How to Give Excellent Customer Service

Now that you have a home based business, you are not sure what the best way is for providing your clients and potential customers with excellent customer service. That's all right as many people feel as though it is just like they are working a 9 to 5 job. However, it is much different online. We now want to offer you some helpful suggestions that you can take back to you blog, website or forum or whatever business you may be involved in.

If you own a personal website, one of the best benefits for your business is having a 'contact us' area. Even though you may not be available 24/7, it is easy for potential customers to simply click the mouse and leave a message so you will be able to answer them promptly. It is not a good business practice to have a customer leave you a company question and then take 3-5 days to get back with them. You will find that you will lose business as your customers got tired of waiting for a response from you and sought out another company.

Remember that if a customer does ask and question and it will take 24-48 hours to reply, make sure it states this fact on the website. This will let your customer know that they can expect a reply. However, you must do this as soon as possible. You may not only lose a sale but get negative word of mouth publicity.

You will have complaints occasionally, and no one likes to deal with them. Although they may not be fun and inspiring, they do need to be resolved. You cannot make things better by taking a defensive approach. If someone is angry or irritated, just remain calm, explain the situation and give your customer options to find a solution to the problem. Either the customer will calm down, or, even if they remain upset, they are likely to give your company a great review about your customer service.

One other suggestion is that if you don't know all the answers, don't pretend you do. This is hard for so many people that have home based businesses, because they want to build the business as fast as they can and get sales or downline members, instead of thinking long term. So when someone asks something you don't have any knowledge tell them, "I don't know, but I'd be happy to find out for you." In doing so, they know you aren't trying to pull a fast one on them, which creates both a respectable and positive sense about you and your company.

It's very important to understand that making money on the internet is not easy. There are so many scams and illegal activities out there, that the skepticism has never been greater. This means you will have to create your own rapport on the internet and whether the customer or potential prospect knows your name or not, how you treat utilize your customer service is going to reflect greatly on your company now and in the future.
